Hot Tub & Spa Removal

An old spa takes up the best spot in the yard long after anyone uses it. Once the power is off and the water is drained, we take it apart as needed, carry it out through the side yard and haul everything away, including the cover and steps.

How is a hot tub removed?

Hot tub removal starts with the power shut off and the tub drained. If the spa is hardwired, a licensed electrician should disconnect it first. Pacific Haul & Wash then cuts the shell and cabinet into manageable sections when needed, carries them out through the side yard, and hauls everything away.

Can I put an old hot tub on the curb for pickup?

No. A hot tub is far too large for curbside collection, and the City of San Diego's bulky item pickup is paused. Hot tubs are usually cut apart on site and hauled to a landfill or transfer station, with metal parts recycled when possible. We handle the cutting and hauling.

Before removal day

Turn off the breaker and drain the tub to landscaping, not the street or a storm drain. If the spa is hardwired, have a licensed electrician disconnect and cap the circuit before we arrive. Move spa chemicals to a household hazardous waste drop-off.

Measure the narrowest point between the tub and the street. That gate or side yard decides whether the spa comes out whole or in sections.

FAQ

Hot Tub Removal questions

All FAQs

Do you remove the concrete pad under a hot tub?

The pad is a separate job. Tell us if the slab or a deck needs to go and we will quote it, or leave it in place and pressure wash it.

How do I drain a hot tub before removal?

Turn off the power at the breaker, then drain the tub with its drain valve or a submersible pump to landscaping, not a storm drain. Treated water should cool and sit uncovered for a few days to let chlorine dissipate.
